Question: Can I insure my 23 year old daughter?

Yes:If your daughter is listed as a dependant on your tax return and does not file her own taxes.

Question:What does the Affordable Care Act require of me?

The Affordable Care Act is also known as Obamacare. People who fill out a Federal Income Tax form MUST maintain health insurance for themselves and their dependents. Those who don’t will pay a fine.

Question: What if I can’t afford health insurance?

Individuals and families whose income falls below the level set by the Federal Government will be insured with Medi-Cal.If you are not sure if you qualify for Medi-Cal, call us and we will let you know.>

Question: What if my income is too high for Medi-Cal?

If you make too much money to qualify for Medi-Cal, you may use:
  • An employer sponsored health care plan
  • Your own private health insurance
  • A plan through the Covered California Exchange

If I choose to go with a Covered California Plan, is there any financial assistance available?

Yes! Individuals with lower incomes often qualify for subsidized plans. To qualify for a subsidy, be prepared to provide your address, a tax return and the name of your employer. Examples of subsidized Covered California Plans include:
  • The Bronze Plan with payments as low as 1.00 per month.
  • The Silver Plan with payments as low as 48.00 per month.

Does Covered California have a plan with higher monthly premiums but that reduce my out-of-pocket costs when I have a claim?

Yes. Covered California has both a Gold and a Platinum plan. For more information on these plans contact our office.

I no longer qualify for Medi-Cal. What do I need to do to get health insurance?

Call our enrollment center or come by our office and we will help you enroll for new health insurace. You qualify for open enrollment if you have been released from Medi-Cal within the last 60 days. If it has been over 60 days you may have to wait until Open Enrollment beginning Nov 1st-Jan 31st.

I live with my boyfriend. Can we get a plan together?

No. You would each need to get your own Covered California Plan. A tax household includes spouse, chidren, and dependents listed on your tax return.

  • You would be your own tax household
